Happiness Kidneys

Happiness is like kidneys, if one fails you don’t die. You can continue to stay happy. Let me explain. Just like how we have two kidneys there are two types of happiness.

1. Dependent happiness
2. Independent happiness

Dependent happiness is more common and often understood as the only way to be happy. Basically the nature of this happiness is such that it is controlled by others. It is outside you. In most cases it’s your lover, husband etc. or other examples could be your parents and friends. We are all so used to this type of happiness that when we fail in this, which is not so unusual. Everyone at least once goes though it, and when it happens then we chose to remain unhappy and believe that everything else would be a compromise.

The other type is independent happiness which is less acknowledged by masses and considered as the one for intellectuals, a kind of theoretic. In simple terms this kind of happiness is not depended on anything outside you. Here ‘You’ control and the happiness comes from within. It is a different kind and most of us make mistake of trying to look for the earlier kind in this one. They are different. I mean this can not take place of the ‘dependent happiness’ and vis-à-vis the other can not take place of this one. This one is a little difficult as it takes a while to trust ourselves and take charge of ourselves. We are not so used to it eh!

The ideal would be to have both. They are mutually exclusive. But the interesting part is you still can live happily with only one.

Its time you checked your ‘Happiness Kidneys’?

Very interesting. I'm not surprised you're a planner. You know, you should blog more often. This post could teach a lesson or two to Coke's Open Happiness philosophy.

Very nice approach to happiness!
I always wondered if everyone depends on people around them to give them happiness, where would it begin?

Your post almost shouts out the answer! :)
